The Korean Federation of Trade Unions (KFTU) and Korean Teachers and Education Workers Union (KTU) asked to purchase two 21-ton wheeled excavators (DX210W) to help North Korea in the wake of massive flood damage in August.
Doosan Infracore officials gave their full support in light of the urgency of the situation.
The two machines, along with various relief supplies (including medicine, paint, tires) were delivered overland across the border to Gaeseong on September 21.
The equipment was then sent to some of the hardest hit areas to help restore damaged homes, roads and farmland.
Doosan excavators had previously been mobilized for the KEDO nuclear plant project in 2003 and the reconnection of the inter-Korean rail link on the East Coast in 2004.
