On 21 March 2019, Doosan Infracore announced that it had held a meeting for its African construction equipment dealers for two days starting on March 19 in Bangkok, Thailand. The meeting was attended by more than fifty people including executives from Doosan Infracore and the representatives of sixteen dealer companies from twenty-five countries including Ethiopia, Sudan, Algeria and South Africa.
The meeting kicked off with a presentation of Doosan Infracore’s major achievements in emerging markets in 2018, the key issues facing the company and its strategic directions for 2019, followed by a discussion on how to enhance its sales competencies in Africa.
The African construction equipment market is estimated at around 10,000 units per year, with the demand for large-sized equipment weighing more than 30 tons accounting for the largest share. Doosan Infracore has continued to increase its sales of construction equipment in emerging markets around the world, including Africa, over the last three years, rising from KRW 918 billion in 2016 to 1.0877 trillion in 2017 and KRW 1.18 trillion in 2018.
To expand its market presence in Africa, the company’s second biggest emerging market after Asia, Doosan Infracore is placing particular emphasis on expanding and enhancing its dealer networks, increasing its tech service training, expanding its product lineups, and raising awareness of the corporate brand. In addition, the company recently boosted its sales competencies on the continent by appointing a newly discovered dealer to take charge of sales activities in seven countries in western and southern Africa, including such countries as Togo, Burkina Faso and Zambia.
